Queen Latifah, real name Dana Elaine Owens, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, actress, comedian and model. Latifah’s contribution to movie and music industries has garnered her numerous awards, including two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Golden Globe, couple of Image Awards and a Grammy. Her debut album, entitled All Hail the Queen, was released in late 1980s. Dana was born in New Jersey, in a family of Native and African American ancestry, to Rita and Lancelot Owens. Her mother was a teacher in a local high school, while her father had a job at the police department.
